Bonkers for buttons!

got myself into a little button making sesh the other day and it was quite lovely. these are a collection of buttons that include a photo of myself, a photo of a phillie cat, magazine/lettering book clippings (juxtapoz, canvas, house industries), and an anchor i drew. follow me on instagram for meng on the daily! things i do, eat, and wear. so technically, stalking is encouraged. i update that more than i do here.

Pen pal status!

ive gotten myself a pen pal in good ol aussie country! sure itd be easy to contact eachother super quick on the internet through email or the millions of social networks out there (even tho we've already connected that way also hahah) but we're takin it old school with letters and postcards. the last thing i sent was a handmade postcard drawing i made of/for her. glad you like it! im still workin on some other stuff to send ya girl. blah i take forever!--i just been slackin--like with most things :\

My sister's etsy!

my sister has been on a crafting rampage; and we've all convinced her to start an etsy account to really get her on the grind. yours truly is helping her with the site! just call me manager ;) support the nguyen family and get yourself something she handmade/sewn herself. her latest creations include these fluffy goodness we callin phone cozies!

she also painstakingly (i heard her shout from my room after busting her finger) made some lovely earrings as well.

Who draws on clothes anymore?

i got an ugly black burn mark on my favorite pair of shorts somehow. too torn to throw them away, i just drew a flower to play it off. ta-da! i can keep wearing these babies. hahah talk about a quick fix.

made me think about how awesome it was to draw on your clothes. i remember when a whole mess of girls had their friends' names tagged all over their jeans in high school. or the tee that everyone wrote on at the end of the school year :)

Mengbow!

i wore a bow not too long ago and my sister wanted to up my bow game by making her own. so one day i came home to see a meng-bow sitting in my room for me. thank you big sis, i love all your creations.

Bday munny.

i love creative people. my bffl made this for his other bff (yes, we can have more than one) for her birthday & i absolutely love it! i'm a little bitter that it's not mine hahah but it would be awkward for me to steal it since im not in any of the pictures.


he printed the pics super small on some transfer paper and stuck em on with nail polish. and cut up some clothes/undies for the munny from felt. you clever punk! this makes me love you more. lucky ada!

Guess what day it was;

the help, the cards, the gifts, the wishes, showing up or showing love, thank you for making my birthday special everyone. truly thankful to have all the wonderful people i call family and friends in my life.

teacher finally handed back our first projects in relief printmaking today. im not that big on groupwork, especially in art classes cause people butt heads all the time. i liked how it turned out though.

our concept was pretty simple; night and day ish. mine is the middle :)

scarf was from my special bffffffriend! it was a christmas gift and made with loveee. it was his first try and everything :) he keeps me fitted!

this was my sister's first try at making a hat too. she made this shortly after i lost my baby back in december. then i fell back in love with this one. she got the furry part from an old pillow. i can button it to my face too. what fashion and function! thanksss again!

Why hello there:

Eyes of green.

i think it's funny that i neverrrr seen janine last semester; and now i see her ALL the time. kinda hard to avoid her if we have two 3 hr classes together :)

this is probably my fourth time drawing her. she;s an easier subject to draw cause we're always sitting next to eachother, &i don't have to ask. shes used to me staring by now. haha!
